Contact Lenses

I have never worn contact lenses before, how do I begin?

Simply contact your optician and book in for a £25 contact lens assessment or book here. Please only book a contact lenses assessment if you have had an eye test in the last 2 years, if it has been longer please book in for a sight test first.

I have already had an eye test, do I need a contact lens appointment as well?

Yes, it is important to attend both appointments, as they focus on different things. At a contact lens appointment, the Optician will assess your vision in just your contact lenses, check the health of the front of your eyes, as well as other elements associated with contact lens wear. At an eye test your optician determines your prescription for your glasses and how well you can see with this prescription in place.

What do I do if I damage my contact lenses?

You can NOT wear a lens that is cracked, split, or damaged in any way. You will need to dispose of the lens and wear another one. If you need a replacement please contact us.

Can children wear contact lenses?

Yes, contact lenses can be a great option for children. It gives them the flexibility and freedom, whether playing sports or studying. However, it will determine on whether you thing your child is mature and independent enough to remove, clean and place contact lenses into their eyes regularly. The optician too, will have a in-depth chat with you and your child to determine the best outcome.

I have dry eyes, can I still wear my contact lenses?

Yes, due to advances in eyecare technology even people with dry eyes can benefit from contact lenses. Talk to a member of staff, who will outline these options for you.

Can contact lenses get lost/stuck in my eyes?

To put the answer simply no. Contact lenses float on the front surface of the eye and can not get lost or stuck behind your eyes. However, it is common to sometimes struggle to get them out and if this is the case please do not try and grab the lens, simply call your local opticians and book an appointment to get it removed by a professional.
